Born in Red Bank, Murphy grew up in Jackson before moving to Brick, where he lived at the time of his death, his obituary says.
Murphy loved making music, playing video games, and spending time with his family, especially his kind and caring older brother, Richard C. Murphy, his memorial says.
Murphy was predeceased by his mother, Donna Murphy.
In addition to his brother, Murphy leaves behind his heartbroken father, Richard P. Murphy, as well as several extended family members and close friends.
Murphy’s services were being postponed.
Donations can be made in Murphy’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
“Words cannot describe how broken my heart is right now,” Richard C. Murphy writes in a touching Facebook tribute. “You were more than a brother to me you were probably my best friend.
“I would give up anything to have you back here or to spend more time with you….I will miss you dearly.”
